When I started spooning it from the strainer into my quart container I could not understand why it seemed no different from my usual yogurt. That was just for the top layer. As I kept spooning it out, it got thicker and thicker until, at the bottom, it was almost like cream cheese. I suppose I need to stir it around the next time so that the top layer drains too. Anyway, it tastes really good and has the texture of Greek yogurt. I'm just not sure that I'll save much money on it and I'm not sure how to figure out the calories. I'll probably continue to make my regular yogurt and buy an occasional container of Fage as a treat.
My youngest daughter sends me pictures of koalas which are so cute I want to grab them up and hug them. I've heard they are not really as cute as they appear in pictures and they stink because of their diet of eucalyptus leaves. Well, I will not be testing that as I'm very cautious around wild animals. Still, I enjoy all the pictures she sends me like this one.

This little guy is now my desktop background until I get the next cute as a button picture. Smile.
Yesterday was just about perfect. It was sunny and warm at 77 degrees and we enjoyed being out in it a lot of the day. Today, we are cloudy and raining and around 50 degrees. I'm not complaining! I see all the horrible weather around the country and we are doing just fine.
77 degrees?! I am so jealous! It's freezing here and we got another couple inches of snow last night :(
ReplyDeleteIt's 12 degrees here. At least we're in double digits today. ;)
ReplyDeleteSome time years ago, I decided I need to touch a tiger, a dolphin, and a koala before I die. I have achieved the tiger and dolphin; all that's left is the koala, and that one will require traveling to Australia. I have heard they are rather ill-tempered, but I am pretty sure they will love me. Also, I believe their noses are giant black olives. So I have to check. :)
Yay! You got the blue jeans picture up! Adorable!
ReplyDeleteYes, koalas are so cute. They remind me of my dog Keebler, who is sort of a dog/koala level for cuteness.
:-) Marion
He is adorable:) I'm going to have to try Greek Yogurt. I'm probably the only person on earth who hasn't had it yet!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you have to do to get the end result Greek Yogurt.
ReplyDeleteI made my regular yogurt and then put four layers of cheesecloth in a strainer which I had over a bowl. I poured the yogurt into that and waited. After three hours, more than three cups of liquid had drained out and what I had left was basically Greek yogurt.
DeleteI usually buy yoghurt on sale and put a coffee filter above a measuring cup and it works great. Nice thick yoghurt.
ReplyDeleteI have a snowman for my desk top :) figures eh?
Wow-- it is FREEZING where I am at... I am impressed with making Greek yogurt. No time right now at this phase of my life, but I hope to get there at some point. I love preparing food!!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! Spring weather and good treats!
ReplyDeleteWe're having a temporary warm up in Wisconsin for today and tomorrow too, but it won't last. We're in for another arctic blast on Wednesday. Not looking forward to that!
ReplyDeleteHOw did the yogurt taste?
Yep, my Mom has been up close to a koala bear once on vacation, and she said it wasn't as "cute" as she thought it was going to be! And they were stinky!
ReplyDeleteWow - 77 degrees - lovely! But I'll also take the 50 degrees. :D
Humm, 77 is awesome, 50 is wonderful. Today was 24 for us but tomorrow night back into the negative numbers.
ReplyDeleteYour Koala picture is so cute. Never will touch or see one in person so can keep the cute pictures and happy thoughts.
Take care Caron. Have a blessed evening!
I have always wanted to try making yogurt. We had an ice storm Sunday, a thunderstorm last night (tornados around), today is to be 62 and we are getting a snowstorm tonight...lol. So weird! I'm not sure how to dress!
