This morning my scale was a little friendlier. I weighed 135.0 and I'll be going on down from there.
I just looked back at my January 1st post for 2012 and found this:
"I'm starting the new year at 138.5 and hoping to be at 136 in a week or
two. I'm comfortable at that weight and it isn't insanely difficult to
maintain."
So I must have changed my "comfortable" weight a while back and that is good. Now I'm trying to get back to 132 or 133.
Last year I had a small goal to try two new recipes each month. It wasn't long before I forgot about the goal, but I did try several new recipes last year. I have stacks of magazines with recipes that sound great and I read a couple of blogger gals who put out good recipes too. I'm not sure why I'm hesitate to try new things except the fear that we won't like it. Of the recipes I tried last year, only one was deleted from my list. The rest were keepers.
I worked on getting in more exercise last year and will continue to do that.
I recently bought the Eat-Clean Diet book by Tosca Reno and have almost finished it. I want to gravitate toward cleaner eating and doing things slowly seems to work for me.
Number one thing to work on is making excuses for eating off plan. My birthday is later this month and we're already talking about where to go to eat. I want to choose a place that has delicious food where I can eat well and not worry about adding pounds. I'm thinking seafood.

Happy New Year Caron:)
ReplyDeleteI read the Eat Clean book. Makes you think about all the junk we put in our bodies.
ReplyDeleteOur family goal this year is to try 52 new recipes...one for each week of the year.
We'll see how far that goes!
I'll have to add Eat Clean to my reading list- sounds good. Seafood is a great choice, as long as you don't order anything drowned in butter ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, and here's an easy recipe for you if you like black beans. I made this yesterday and it's much better than I expected:
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup vegetable broth
1/2 cup salsa
2 Tbsp lime juice
1 tsp cumin
Throw it all in a pot and heat through. Either stop here or I like to take my immersion blender to it and make it kinda creamy.
I topped it with some more (of my homemade) salsa and a dollop of vegan sour cream and poured it over tortilla chips.
Cheap, easy, and yummy.
I hope you'll reach a point where you worry less about gaining weight and can simply enjoy the special times. You seem to do an excellent job of reining things in when you get outside your healthy comfort zone!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Caron! Sounds like a good book, I'll put it on my list.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Caron! I know what you mean about the comfortable weight. Mine keeps going lower too. It will make me run faster to be lighter!
ReplyDeleteI totally get you, Caron. It may be little faster with the loss since you are more focused on Clean Eating, which will no doubt be lower carb, too.
ReplyDeleteHang in there. It's part of the cycle of maintenance. You'll have to let us know what foods you are enjoying eating as a result of the book.
Good luck and Happy New year! Karen P
Thank you Karen. I'm down this morning to 133.4 BUT until this morning I have not done any exercise in 9 days. That is really, really bad and I just finished a short strength training session using weights and my resistance band. Here we go into 2013. :)
DeleteI know that exercise helps , I find that food is about 85% of my success in weight loss. Then consistent exercise for weight maintenance. Funny how that works.
DeleteThe Eat Clean Diet is my bible! :)
ReplyDeleteI've got that Tosca Reno book and definitely want to incorporate more of those recipes in my regular diet.
ReplyDeleteSeafood is one of my favorite healthy, yet very indulgent meals! I made us a seafood extravaganza for New Year's Eve: broiled lobster tails, baked cod, stuffed shrimp. Delicious!
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about that book! You are such a wonderful example of weight maintenance!
