Stormy Wednesday

I woke up around 3:15 this morning and decided to check the bad weather on TV. I think it has mostly gone on by now. I hope so anyway. Yes, I will definitely be taking  a nap later today.

Yesterday I walked the two miles to the post office to mail a package to my daughter and some forms to the IRS. Then, I walked the two miles back home. On the way there, a nice young man in a jeep stopped and asked if I needed a ride somewhere. I thanked him and told him I was getting my exercise by walking to the post office.

When I am walking alone, I always seem to have "brilliant" ideas for my blog. I will work on them in my head and think that they are going to be very good when I write them down. I wonder why I never seem to remember them when I get back home.

I was also kind of checking things off mentally yesterday as I walked. Food is good. Check. Exercise is good. Check. Journaling is consistently done. Check. Oops, I am definitely not drinking enough water. Anytime we are in the car for most of the day, I restrict my water severely to avoid the many potty stops. Then, for a few days I seem to have trouble getting back up to speed. Today, I'll be checking off the bottles of water as I pour and drink them. So far I've had two big cups of decaf coffee and one bottle of water. More to come.

The yoga is going well. My biggest problem is having the space to do it. I'm still experimenting on places to put my mat. Once I have most of the poses memorized, I won't need to be watching the television as closely which means I can move to a place where I have room to stretch out my arms when I'm on the mat.

  1. My brilliant ideas come to me too when I am walking or running. But, alas, when I sit down to post they seem to disappear. I should bring post it notes with me when I am out:-)

  2. When I get a brilliant idea if I don't almost immediately write it down, it's gone like a puff of smoke!

  3. The storms came through here overnight, too. I'm a zombie today.

Writer Anne Lamott shared a tip that I think is a great idea: always have a notecard and a pen in your pocket for recording thoughts or observations. I use my iphone's voice recorder now, but before I did, I carried my notecard.

  4. I wish I lived close enough to town to do errands like that - it's a good 10 minute drive to get to my post office, no idea how many miles that would be! Great job!

Yep, stormy weather here too - and its supposed to start snowing later today - gah! I miss the sun!

  5. I loved yoga but found that my back always hurt the next day. Odd that I can do all kinds of crazy work outs including kick boxing with no problems, but yoga hurt me! I wonder if I was stretching too far or something, but I gave it up.
    Glad you're ejoying it!

  6. We're still melting from the heat in my part of Australia. At least we get our walk in before the sun comes up and it's way to hot to walk. I can't image how people walk in really cold weather, or even snow. I wonder if it's harder than walking in the hot weather!?

  7. Hi Caron! I relate to those brilliant thoughts for blogs. I have them right after I finish exercising, but they all fall out of my head by the time I shower and leave the gym. Oh well. :D

  8. I think of everything while I'm commuting, then instantly forget them once I reach my destination. Good job with the yoga. After my last injury I'm afraid to try it unsupervised!

  9. The same thing happens to me. I come up with some great ideas and by the time I get home and take my coat off I've usually forgotten all my great ideas.
Now I take along my phone and can take notes as long as I haven't lost my glasses :)
I'm also working on getting all my water in this week.

  10. I find it more difficult to drink water in the winter because I'm always cold. I know I need to be drinking at least another bottle a day.
