The Truth, Nothing but the Truth

Guess what happens to a fairly successful weight loss maintainer when she lets down her guard a bit, travels 1500 miles in a car, eats every meal out for four days and gets no exercise. Give up?

Well, I'll tell you. This morning I weighed in at 137.4 which is almost exactly five pounds more than I weighed the middle of the month. I can put it on so easily and it comes off so slowly. I expected this and was glad it wasn't more. I was not eating pizza and cheesecake or other bad for me foods, but even Subway with no mayo or cheese has more calories than I usually consume at a meal.

My plan was to be able to get into my jeans come January 1st and I accomplished that. I tried three times to get a decent picture and this is the third try. I'm still two and a half pounds under my goal weight and I know that a couple of weeks back on program will get me to a better number on the scale.

I got several things in pink for Christmas and two piggy things. I could have taken it that someone was sending me a message, but I don't think so. My daughter gave me this really cute piggy whisk. I love it!

My husband gave me a piggy calendar. This is the picture for January. How cute is that!

I am officially an old fart now. I have my Medicare card signed and ready and effective today. I originally thought it would not be in effect until my birthday later in the month. I've been hearing that fewer and fewer doctors take Medicare so it may not be a big help. I do know that the cost of approximately $200 a month will be better for us. United had already notified us that they were going up to $824 a month for our $5000 deductible health insurance policy.

So, Happy New Year to all. I'm glad to be getting back to my normal, mundane routines.

  2. I agree that it is so much easier to put on weight than take it off. It is so hard to stay under our normal calories when eating out. We rarely eat out anymore.

    1. Eating out is so hard especially if you are tired and so bored with sitting in a car for hours on end. Then getting to eat is the highlight of the day. Not good.

  4. Happy New Year Caron! You'll lose those 5 pounds in no time. It's mostly sodium from eating out so much, I'm sure :) Love, love, love that piggy whisk!!

    1. I'd like a chance to travel for fun instead of rushing across country without seeing much of anything except the freeway. I sound like a party pooper. :(

  7. Hi Caron! You have such a really cute figure!!! (Not exaggerating a bit. Are you aware of that?) January jeans was awesome for you! I like this picture better than the one on the side. The weight will come off. Like you previously said, most of that is water. Eat your normal food and it will go away.

I love cute gifts. Those piggy gifts are awesome and will be fun all year round. I got a gym shirt with a cartoon character flying by a rainbow, which I wore today when I exercised. I always exercise better when I'm fun.

    1. How nice of you to say that. I never ever like pictures of myself and immediately think "Why do I look so WIDE in pictures when I don't see that in the mirror?!" I'm back to my normal food today but no exercise. Tomorrow I'll be back to my exercise too. :)

    1. Thanks Leigh. I know I can lose it fairly quickly but not as quickly as I put it on. Sigh.

    1. Thanks, Norma. It will probably take more than a few days but I can do it. I'm eating well today, but did not get any exercise. Tomorrow that will change.

  10. See, I need to learn more from you. It will take a while to get back to where I once was but I do know it's possible. It does go on much faster then it ever comes back off. Learning.
Do put your pedometer on. However I don't count my every day walking ... you know the normal stuff ... I cound my walks, runs and moving on purpose stuff. I sorta felt like it would be cheating if I counted it all. However, this goal of 1500 miles is including biking this year. Starting as soon as it get warm enough to ride I'm parking my suburban at the bus garage and riding my bike to Kim's or anywhere I need to go in town. No more driving this butt around, well in a few months ... at -20* today, I don't think I'd even think about riding. I'm into liking being warm. :o)
    Take care Caron. Blessings!
