Doing Much Better

One of the things I love about Arizona is that we do not participate in the ritual of Daylight Savings Time. Honestly, just thinking about adding one more hour of extreme heat and sunshine to a summer day here is horrible.

When I was young, I didn't understand people complaining every year when the time changed. I remember my mother-in-law saying she did not like that "fast time." I have reached the point where I have to agree with her.

Last week when I was traveling hither and yon and stressing about things beyond my control, I was also eating poorly. Knowing that the scale would show my poor choices, I avoided it for most of the week. Monday morning I had reached my scream weight of 135.0. This morning I'm down a little to 132.8 which is better. What would be best would be for me to learn not to give in to the stress. I hope that will happen.

I went to the exercise class Tuesday morning which shall no longer be named. This morning I did a yoga routine at home. I'm kind of bored with my exercise and am thinking about trying something new. I'm not sure what it might be. I'm still not going out to walk because we saw the javelinas again just down the hill in broad daylight. I've always thought they were nocturnal, but it seems they are "mostly" nocturnal in the hottest weather.

Moving between two states every couple of months makes it much harder to plan. I can't be joining gyms in two places. I can go back to Zumba in Mississippi I suppose.

If money were no object, I would have many choices including a personal trainer. Yeah, that's not going to happen. I have things to do so will cut this short.

  1. Hi Caron! Glad you are back on track.

Are javelinas as scary as they are in dreams? I've had some huge javelinas in my dreams.<<Strange but true. I don't know why, but it's possible related to some very scary pigs (who would have bitten my hand off if they had a chance) that my parents had on their farm. :D

  2. They are terrifying to me although I've had people say they are not a threat unless they feel cornered. Those long tusks and evil looking teeth are enough to make me worry. We were staying at a vacation rental just north of here and a pack of five or six came clomping down the sidewalk kind of galloping along. You should have seen us scatter!

Although we are not out in the country, we still see bobcats, javelinas, all kinds of snakes and coyotes quite often. They all scare me. :(

  3. Yep, I am with you on the stress getting the better of you and making poor food choices. But when I looked back at my July 2011 me? My husband was still recovering from colon cancer, I was probably under incredible stress, but still managed to make the food and exercise a priority.

Oh well, here's to Day 1 again! :D

  4. Whoa! You have some serious wildlife to deal with. We don't have much around here except squirrels, raccoons, possums (ugh, they are so ugly) and the odd fox. Wasn't sure what a javelina was until I Googled it...Evil looking things. Yikes! On a happier note, glad to hear you are back on track. You continue to rock it:)

  5. I also had to google javelina...they are certainly vicious looking. Be careful! I love the term "scream weight". My body must have been screaming for a few months now.

  6. I totally agree with you about DST. I don't like sunlight at 9 or 10 o'clock at night. I always feel like I should be active, because it's not dark, but my body wants to settle in for the evening.

The javelina is something to be concerned about, so be careful!

  8. Hi Caron! I don't think I know what a javelina is but I don't guess it's something I'd want to come across while out running ;)
Do you have Planet Fitness by you? They have a $20/month membership where you can use any of their clubs, so you wouldn't have to join 2 separate gyms. I can't imagine having to move every couple months, especially between 2 different states! (((hugs)))
Oh, and thanks for being my first follower at the new blog! ;)

  9. Hi Caron, You are tougher than I. Tucson is too hot for me and it's only March. When it gets in the 90's in March that's too hot for Marc.

  10. The clocks have changed?? I didn't realize it was that time already. It's good to know as it'll make the time difference just slightly better with Kuwait. Hopefully my jet lag once I get to Dallas won't be terrible.

Those javelinas would FREAK me out!! I don't blame you for not wanting to go out for a walk.

Have you thought about trying some different exercise DVDs at home? I know they're not the same as classes, but at least it's something to fall back on. What about cycling or maybe joining a walking club now that the temperatures are warming up?

  11. I have a conceal carry permit, nothing really bothers me anymore however the bears in the spring send me running home.
I want warmth but not sure I want your hot, I'd settle for 80's and sunshine and green grass but right now it's 20's, there's 4' of snow out there and more on it's way. Oh well, Minnesota.
I was daydreaming this morning about a personal trainer that would come to my house and teach me and help me stretch. I know I'm not very limber and would like to be but it hurts to stretch out to far. Oh well, dreams.
Take care Caron and thank you for stopping by. Blessings!!
